The Elusive Sephora
I first discovered Sephora on a trip to Las Vegas a couple of years ago where i walked around in wonder at the array of beauty, cosmetics and body products drooling and wondering why we dont have such a shop in Ireland. Since then I have discovered Sephoras in a few locations across Europe making us the only country not to have copped on yet to supply us Sephora addicts! Very disappointing!
On my last trip to the Canaries I discovered a cute little Sephora section tucked away amongst the cosmetic counters in El Corte Ingles. I was delighted (My boyfriend not so much) I spent an hour going through all the products testing them and stocking up on my favourites to take home. (Sorry boyf!). So I thought I would share with you my top Sephora must haves.
The Sephora head to toe hydrator is basically a magic potion of moisturisers. It is a fairly recent discovery but im completely hooked. I use it on my face and dry areas of my body like hands and elbows and decollatage. It says it can be used on the ends of your hair too, I am yet to try this but sounds like a great tip.
Ahh yes the trusty Sephora atomiser. I have three of these on the go. All my perfumes are large bottles and way too heavy to cart around in my handbag or for travelling so these atomisers are fantastic. Yes you can probably get the equivalent in Irish cosmetic shops but the fact that it's Sephora makes it special in my eyes. I have a different perfume in each one so that i know which is which but actually when you are finished your perfume in one of these you can put a totally different one in the next time with out any overlap of fragrance!
My sister once brought me this back from a trip to Barcelona, it was also my birthday and i have never been so excited by a present in my life. My most favourite eyeshadow ever was an amazing galaxy brown colour that I bought in Las Vegas and has since been discontinued so she got me this giant palatte to make up for it. I am still using it today and I love it. The eyeshadows are rich deep pigments and the blushers are great as there is different colours to match your complexion as it changes all year round.
This primer was an exciting new find. I had alwasy been a huge fan of the smashbox primer followed by the Loreal studio secrets for when i was on a budget. This Primer by Sephora is a great price and feels so silk smooth when applying to the face. It seemed to fill in any wrinkles and give a younger appearence. My make up always goes on much more smoothly afterwards and lasts longer throughtout the day. A definite must have.
I have slowly been adding to my Sephora make-up brush collection throught my trips. They are fantastic quality and a really good price compared to a lot offered on the market. This was anew addition powderbrush I bought on the last trip. It is soft on the face and washes like new. One day I hope to own the whole lot..... One can but dream
Have you discovered the pull of Sephora yet? Can you reccomend any products? What is your favourite beauty brand?

Are you primed?
I have always been a girl addicted to primer! You can use the best foundation in the world, even a long lasting one but I swear by the fact you will still get a better and longer finnish if you have used primer first. It is especially great for lazy girls like me who put their make-up on going to work and then just tops up goin for afterwork drinks!
My favourite primer for years has always been Smashbox Photo Finish Primer. €22
Its clear and has the texture of a gel and literally glides on over your moisturiser giving and fantastic silky base to put your foundation on over. €25
I have also on occasion tried the bronzing Photo Finnish Primer which is great when I have a tan or have used fake tan first. This has exactlt the same consistency as the original but gives an extra hint of tan too! Smashbox though can sometimes be a hard brand to find and often I can only pick it up at the airport.
During Smashbox droughts I have been know to use Mac's Prep and Prime skin. This feels completely different again, it is more of a lotion texture and smooths out any redness on the face before your foundation application. It costs around €18 and easily available too.
Now being a bit of a cosmetics tart I have been keeping my eye out for a cheaper alternative, (these are recessionary times you know!) I was really happy to discover the introduction of a new L'oreal primer.
It comes in a cute glass pot and sells for an impressive €12. I must admit this could be my new favourite. This primer is quite thick and has a slightly moussey texture but when applied to the faces it warms up and smoothes on easily. Also because of its thicker texture it fills in any lines or pores perfectly and I always have a great foundation application after using it. Well done L'oreal.
Do you have any Primer secrets to share? any reccomendations for new products? Or do you have a favourite primer that you swear by?

A real "Benefit" to me.
It's not a big secret that I'm a huge fan of Benefit cosmetics. What's not to like? They have funky packaging, a sense of humour and most importantly they tackle beauty problems and successfully solve them. A smooth even skin tone is my secret beauty wish but alas, I'm blessed with patchy, freckly and sometimes blemished Irish skin tone. I have used every type of concealer around and have managed ok so far......
Then at Christmas all my dreams came true when i was given "Confessions of a Concealaholic" by my sisters new boyfriend. Well as you can imagine it made him an instant hit in my eyes. This wondrous little palette does everything it says on the tin and more.
Inside the pretty little box there is a supercute mirror, handy for testing out these little miracle workers.
Also to be found are:
* "that gal" Brightening primer. 7.5 ml
* "erase paste" Brightening camouflage. 3.2g
* "boi-ing" Concealer (2 shades) 2x 1.3g
* "lemon aid" Colour correcting eye primer. 0.9g
* "eye-bright" Instant eye Brightener. 0.9g
My biggest problem has always been dark under eye circles and darkness around the eye sockets so these little gems sorted that right out. It was fantastic having the two colours of concealers too as I get so pale in the Winter that i could use the paler one first but now moving into Summer I have a bit more colour on my face so the deeper colour is perfect.
I was very impressed with all products, "lemon aid" gave my eyelids a lovely base for my eyeshadow and "that gal" primer gave a lovely silky base which made me foundation glide on.
However my absolute favorite and the item I will never let myself run out of is "erase paste". It's fantastic. It has a nice pink tone that covers my dark circles and makes my eyes instantly look refreshed even when tired/hungover.

Has anybody else tried this palette yet and discovered It's magic? Or does anyone have any other concealing secrets they can share?
